The Seminole Native American Tribe

The Seminole Native American Tribe originated from Florida. The Seminole Native Americans formed during the 18Th century and was considered Native Americans. The Seminole considered themselves as the "Unconquered People"

After settling in their land the spanish attacked the Seminoles. The spanish also took their settlements. The Seminole tribe had no settlements left so, they fled to Florida. The United states army led a lot of incursions or also called invasions into spanish territory. They went to the spanish territory to recapture the escaped slaves also called the "Black Seminoles". The very first Seminole War started during the "Andrew Jackson Era" (1817-1818).

The Seminole leader, Osceola, led the vastly out numbered resistance during the second Seminole War. During the war the population of the Seminoles was about 4,000. 800 of the 4,000 Seminoles was the ally the Black Seminoles. The total number of warriors and or fighters for the war was 1,400. To survive the second Seminole war the Seminoles played the hit-and-run game. Osceola was put in jail. Osceola was buried without his HEAD!!! OUCH!!

Some of the weapons that the Seminole Native Americans used were dugout canoes, bows, tomahawks, and by the 1700's guns. The dugout canoes were very much used only for transportation. It was Usually made of the bark of a tree. Also the Seminoles used bows or tomahawks. Tomahawks were made of a wood handle. At the top of the weapon it was a sharp ridged edge very POINTY!! Finally the last weapon used were guns. Guns were one of the advanced weapons out of all of the others.

By the year 2000, 12,431 people declared themselves simply as "Seminole Native Americans". Also 15,000 of different races declared them as Seminoles. So, 27,000 people considered themselves Seminole Native Americans. Most Seminole followers are now found in Oklahoman & Florida. The high school called Florida State University or (FSU) for short uses Seminole as there football team name. FSU also has a basketball team and baseball team as well.

In conclusion, the Seminoles looked like people of war. They never gave up against Andrew Jackson and that's why they have the nickname the "Unconquered people". Also the Seminoles have very muchexpanded since first coming to America and now have over 27,000 followers.

Nice job with page Andrew. Your essay describes the topics well and the extras you added to the page are very helpful (except the poll on whose page is better). Your page fully describes the Seminole. Well done.
